[email protected]Corrosion Resistant Stainless 301 Annealed, Quarter Hard, Half Hard, Full Hard – AMS5901 | AMS5517 | AMS5518 | AMS5519 – UNS S30100
Type 301 is a high strength grade of steel available in six conditions or tempers, its resistance to atmosphere corrosion and its bright, attractive surface make it an ideal material for a multitude of applications both for industrial and consumer products. These include Springs, Gaskets, Shims, Fasteners, Tools, Blades, Automotive Parts, Aerospace Components, Kitchen Utensils, and Tableware, Electrical Components and many others.
301 is an austenitic stainless steel which contains chromium and nickel as the principle alloying elements. They can be hardened only by cold working. In the annealed condition, they are not attracted to a magnet but may become slightly magnetic after cold working.
The high tensile properties of these sheets are the result of cold working and are used in parts requiring higher strength characteristics than found in annealed sheets.
301 is ductile and easily formed but severe forming or multiple operations may require intermediate anneals due to its high work hardening rate. Its hardness and strength makes it a fit for structural applications. Typically stamped or drawn.

300 series austenitic stainless steels are non-magnetic. When nickel is added to stainless steel in sufficient amounts, the crystal structure changes to “austenite.” The basic composition of 300 series austenitic stainless steels is 18% chromium and 8% nickel. This enhances their corrosion resistance and modifies the structure from ferritic to austenitic. Austenitic grades are the most commonly used stainless steels, accounting for more than 70% of production.
